Interview with a Quilter

Luan, pronounced "Lou-on" is a master quilt artist living in the gorgeous Sierra Nevada foothills. Her hand quilted quilts are admired and sought after by family and friends. And since Minelolly also features her creations in the store, and she's my sweet mother...I thought it would be fun to post a little interview with her. Enjoy.

Tell us about yourself.
I was born in Utah, but raised in Twin Falls, Idaho. Both Mother and Dad were artistic in their own fashion. Dad made doll furniture for me and my two sisters, and Mother does all manner of sewing and crafting. She is in her 80’s and is planning to decorate her sewing room with baby blessing dresses. So I inherited talents from my parents.

I enjoy reading, sewing, quilting, and going out with friends. I decorate my home with antiques, and love hanging platters on the walls. My favorite color is purple. My husband says purple isn’t a color, but rather an attitude. I definitely have a purple attitude. Sometimes I see no other color.

Family is important to me. My husband of 31 years and I have four children, all talented in their own right. As my children are adults, we don’t get together often but when we do we have a great time.

When did you pick up quilting and how did you learn?
My mother is a very talented seamstress. She can make anything and has. It was from watching her sew that I learned and she has taught me many clever ways of sewing. My first quilt was rows of 4” squares sewn together, and tied with hot pink yarn. This quilt was on my bed at college.

As our children came along, I sewed clothing for our four children. As a natural way to use up the scraps of fabric, I began quilting. My quilts have always been more of a scrap bag conglomeration.

But it’s been in just the last 10 years I have produced such a large number of quilts. I have a high pressure job in a bakery, and need a calming release. Quilting does that for me.

What is it about quilting that gives you the most joy?
I enjoy every part of the quilting process, but my favorite is the quilting part. I do not see the draw for the machine quilted quilts. Their look is so different from the hand work done with a needle.

My frames are set up behind the couch in the TV room, so I can enjoy watching chick flicks, the History Channel, and movies with my family while I quilt. And as I mentioned before, quilting gives me the relief I need from my job.

What handmade item do you most cherish?
A a cedar chest, a blanket chest, and a small cupboard made by my father using old wood from a barn. They were in my room until I moved away to college but came with me when I got married.

After years of being married my husband asked me if it was time to get rid of the three pieces. I said absolutely not. They were a part of me and come with me. Then I asked him if he still wanted to be married to me. It’s been 31 years, so I’m thinking he is now okay with the old barn wood furniture.

Apart from quilting, what else do you like to do?
I love to go out with friends. It’s wonderful to laugh and talk about things like husbands, family, children and grandchildren, hobbies, etc.

I like to shop in second hand stores, as well as antique stores.

I make hot pads and baby bibs using left over scraps from quilts. These make great hand made gifts. It makes me feel good to use up what I have on hand. When someone does something nice for me, I let them pick out a set of hot pads as a thank you gift. It’s really soul satisfying.

Housework! Yes, you heard me. I love keeping my house up. Always have. Always will. Love to hear the washer and dryer going, and the dishwasher washing. It’s great, and allows me more sewing and reading time.

I also enjoying keeping up on my photo albums and my journal. I like living in the details, and making notes of them. I am a list maker. Keeping journals, and albums is fun for me. It’s a pleasure to thumb through them and remember my past and that of my family.

What influences your creativity?
Magazines mostly. I subscribe to several different quilting magazines.

These magazines are a great way to get the creative juices flowing.

What advice do you have for a novice quilter?
To start, buy one or two quilting magazines at the store, and later subscribe to your favorites. They are full of beautiful color photos of quilts, and the instructions are detailed and useful. Read the articles, and helpful hints. In almost every issue there are instructions for the novice as well as the experienced quilter.

If there are some instructions that are unclear, don’t worry. Over time and with experience with cutting, sewing and quilting, more instructions will become clearer.

Describe your creative process.
I keep a stack of magazines on my sewing table, open to the page of the next quilt I would like to try. And I use the scraps I have on hand, hardly ever buying fabric to match the pictures of quilts. However, I do try to use the same colors. The color combinations and shapes are what draws me to a design in the first place.

I like to have one quilt in construction at the sewing machine, one on a hanger ready to be quilted, and one on the quilting frames.

The quilting technique I used has evolved over the years. I use outline, in the ditch, stencil patterns, and echo quilting. In 2003 I tried quilting with a new, thicker thread. I often use a pair of needle nosed pliers to pull the needle through the quilts’ three layers. At first this was awkward but after a while, it was second nature. The look of the finished quilt is well worth this extra effort, in my opinion.

At first I was purchasing the thread in a color to match the quilts, but once I tried black I loved it so much that I use it exclusively, no matter what the color scheme of the quilt.

Over time I’ve gone to making crib/lap sized quilts because they are small enough that I can assemble the layers and put them on the frames by myself. The designs are queen size, just shrunk. And I often manipulate the size by adding or subtracting borders as I see fit.

To date I have machine pieced and hand quilted 48 queens, 19 twins, and 104 baby/lap/wall sized quilts. These are all recorded in a quilting journal, along with descriptions, measurements, color, and a photo.

I really do have to mention that I have a dear and wonderful friend who feeds my quilting passion. She purchases fabric where ever she can, and gives it to me. Hence my quilts have a lot of fabric that was never used, but now has a new home in the lovely quilts I make. In return for the fabric, I give her children baby quilts as the grandchildren come along.

In the beginning it was not my plan to give away or sell any quilts. But you should see what a tall stack of baby quilts looks like. My bedroom is full of quilts. So as the stack grew, it became easier to share my love of quilting with others. Because I have photos and a journal, I can look at those quilts anytime. Sharing is a good thing to do.

I love weddings! I love how each one is different and how each one is so beautiful! I received these photos from Sarah who used two sheer flowers from Minelolly for her hair—don't you just love how she chose to wear them?

Yep, Minelolly is getting a much needed facelift. The old Logotype worked when Minelolly carried only the dolls, and was meant to be temporary. Yep, two years is temporary—shame on me. So this week has been busy, busy...and it's working itself out well enough. I'll post other elements of the brand soon!

Gold Laurel Leaves on a Wedding Cake

For the wedding this last weekend, I was asked to do the cake. It was my first and last wedding cake I think. A wedding is too much pressure for little me. But that being said, I still had fun.
The design is mainly derived from a Martha Stewart cake with a couple of tweaks. Normally I would have designed the cake but the family liked this one, so I went with it. I will take credit for all the work though!

There were two flavors, a pumpkin chocolate chip nut, and a really moist chocolate. I mean moist. Both from scratch. I don't believe in boxed cake...if you can even call it cake.

The frosting is butter-cream. The laurel leaves are made from gum paste sprayed with an edible gold spray and the little decorative ribbon is made of royal icing—both were made a few weeks ahead of time.
The cakes were displayed all together, in front of three vintage doors and mirrors. I knew they would come in handy!
8 hours of baking and 12 hours of decorating later...we ended up with a gorgeous cake set. I think the two accompanying cakes really help finish off the look and would recommend it again.

This announcement take its cues from 1940's movie titling. You've seen the movies, where the title is written on the slant in lovely white cursive over a dark background. The cards turned out simple, elegant, and ever so slightly dramatic—the lighting in the engagement photos adds some of that drama. It truly fits what the couple are going for and who have taste for vintage, like mystery dinners, and old black and white movies.

Unofficial Bridesmaid Details

Generally I do NOT like shopping and I am beginning to think it is because I need a "theme" when I shop. (Is it the designer in me that needs a theme? Hmmm) So, that being said—I had a BLAST putting my unofficial bridesmaid outfit together. It really helped me to have a visual goal in mind.

Above is a bracelet my grandma was going to throw away (this is when I was around 8 or 9 years old) but she gave to me instead. For years I thought it was the ugliest thing—but could never get rid of it. Now I am so glad I kept it!

Then I started searching for a matching necklace...but it dawned on me that I could make a fascinator to match instead! It turned out perfect. (Below) And the earings (Above) were the last to be added.

Then I got lucky and I found these shoes two days before the wedding! I never thought I'd have a pair of gold shoes...but I LOVE them! (Guess brand.)

I tried to capture other accessory details at the wedding, those will be posted soon! (Have I used enough exclamation marks yet?)

Want of the Week

My husband's family is getting ready for a wedding which is to take place in about three weeks. We've been so busy, but I must tell you I've having quite a lot of fun as well. I'll post more details, mood boards, and photos from the wedding in the upcoming weeks but I just couldn't wait to share this little find.

The girls in the family have been asked to wear brown and to accompany the outfit with gold vintage jewelry featuring fall colored jewels. And though sadly I ended up going a different direction, I wanted to show this fabulous dress I found at Sears. (Only $39.99!)

I then went searching on Etsy for a one-of-a-kind necklace to go with it. I am totally wishing the dress had worked out so I could have a reason to buy one of these two gorgeous pieces.

New Staff at Minelolly

Say hello to Evelynn, she's the newest member of the Minelolly family and will be arriving here in the office in about a week. Her modeling expertise will help the work go a lot quicker so Minelolly is VERY pleased that she has accepted the job.

Evelynn is joyful and rather witty. Her personal style is somewhat punkish and eclectic. But she slips easily into and out of different personas which I think makes her perfect for modeling. Her friends tease her about her collection of patterned stockings which Evelynn keeps stashed in TWO suitcases. (I secretly hope she'll let me borrow a pair from time to time.) And her favorite past-time includes visiting with Ma and Pa at Ma and Pop shops, making You Tube videos featuring the colors black and purple, and of course trying different hair styles. (Speaking of which, I need to find some wigs for our new girl...anybody know of a good resource?)

I just received an image from one of the brides I made a custom order for. She sent along this picture of her bridesmaids wearing Minelolly navy blue and yellow fascinators. They turned out so great. I was lucky to find those yellow rhinestones for the center—which I knew would reflect the light perfectly, allowing the hair pieces to stand out just enough. Too fun! Thanks Melissa!

I just finished this cake for a seven year old's birthday party. I think she'll like it! Everything on the cake is edible except for the string holding the flower leis, and the stamen. Yum, yum, and fun, fun.

Second Baby Shower

This is a great theme for any mother having her second, third etc. baby. Most people recommend throwing a sprinkle instead of a shower, this is another take on that idea.
Theme: Itty Bitty Colors: blue toile, blues, browns, white. Decorations: Polka-dots and stripes.

Above is part of the invitation that went out via email. Below we decorated with handmade polka-dot streamers, mini balloons, and blue toile.
Each guest filled out a little envelope with their address so we could send the mom home with them and thank you cards for later.
This little sign was taped to the front door so the party goers would know they were at the right house. (As if the cars wouldn't have given it away....)
The prize for the winner of each game was a bag of itty bitty candy bars. Very popular among the ladies.
Below: Although this is a before photo—we filled the table with plenty of theme worthy treats like: Itty bitty oreos, melon balls, round chips and dip, mini chocolate chip cookies, mini veggies and baby carrots, finger size pigs in a blanket made out of little sausages—perfect for a boy shower—and we even had soda in itty bitty cans! (Gotta love Target.)
The mom is collecting blue toile for the baby's room, so I made a small guest book to match. We passed it around the room during the party for each guest to write some advice on raising a boy.
And lastly, before each person left they received a parting gift—an itty bitty cake!
This may seem like a lot of work but we split up the preparation between three people and it was perfect! So thanks to Marcie and Jami, great teamwork!

Simple is Best

Wanting to design something specifically for letterpress, I have found that simple line patterns look great (you can really see and feel the impression.) So, I started off creating a border inspired by this mint green hairpiece I saw over at Gochemoche. The rest of the design just fell into place.

Trees are Inspiring

I just finished this new set and am totally excited about it. There was plenty of inspiration to be had here! Oak trees dot the wedding location and translate into a relaxed, yet well put together set of announcements. (And can't you just imagine all the things you could do at the reception?) Also, printing a 4.5 x 5.5 inch announcement helps to extend the amount of printed materials and keep the cost low.

Well, the cake classes are over. This is the final cake. I had a blast and I'm finally figuring out the tricks to fondant, and time management of the cake making kind.

Bottom line: The price you pay for a custom cake is worth it, every penny. Materials and ingredients are expensive, the prep work is time consuming, and expertise is a necessity if you want a beautiful cake. I will never balk at a cake price again! To all you cake decorators out there, "WOW."

Inspiration for this cake: We had to make a little round box for the top. I wanted to fill it with something other than flowers—strawberries came to mind. Plus, I was able to use left-over blue fondant for the bands. Done and done. It turned out so cute!

Marbled Fondant and Classic Flowers

This week I wanted to practice my gum paste flowers, so that and marbled fondant became the main concentration of this cake. The process is laid out below:

It helps to start out with a sketch. Then, I finalize it, and add color. This helps to work out the quirks.
Then I get to work...
and finally the Mr. and I get to enjoy the finished project...visually AND flavor-fully!

Learning the Wedding Cake

The whole world it seems is obsessing over great wedding cakes. Admittedly, I too would enjoy handing over a design (or sketch) for a cake that matches each announcement I create. What fun that would be.

But I realized, in order to design a cake...I need to understand the limitations as well as possibilities that accompany the craft. So I am taking the Wilton cake decorating courses and have been having a blast. Here is my first ever, wedding cake.

Real Wedding

Remember the rush announcements I mentioned earlier? (click here.) Well, below is a peek at the finished product. After seeing my inspiration board the bride mentioned she wanted them mostly cute, with a little sophistication.

The set included three, postcard style pieces. An announcement, a map, and an RSVP card. On the back of each piece was a different photo of the couple and a small typographic element in one corner, saying something like "Ever After" etc. We were also able to order custom printed, pink pearlescent envelopes. It all turned out quite nice and we were both very pleased with the results.

Sparkling Blue Wedding

Using the Minelolly fascinator as inspiration, here is a wedding board with blues and sparkle. The dresses, cake, and china, are clean and effortless; a perfect complement to the sparkly details of the rhinestones and jewels. Also, notice how the drapes mimic the bride's dress . . . and the napkin rings mimic the fun center of the hairpiece. I would add flowers to the cake that resemble the hairpiece as well.

And lastly, the centerpieces would be as sparkly as possible, either using crystal wedding trees, or crystal studded candle holders, or perhaps tall mirror mosaic vases. A truly lovely event.

Texas Baby Announcement

Our friends recently had a baby. This is the announcement we came up with. The mom wanted a digital graffiti look and also to show that the baby was born in Texas, without being blunt.

Solution? Add the Fort Worth skyline with the lone Texas star. Now when the baby grows up the parents can point at the city and say "See? That's where you were born."

It also felt appropriate to have the baby in front of the city—larger than life. That too hints at how important he is as well as how big he was when he was born—almost ten pounds! Whew!

Blue and Green

I think if I were to do it all over again, I would be wearing color and everyone else would be wearing white—that would be a lovely way to stir things up a bit don't you think? And I'm loving the fresh feeling this color combination transmits—reminds me of a little cottage garden gathering . . .

Easter Baskets Revised
Is is just me or has Easter candy gotten really cute? This has been the first year I've ever shopped for Easter treats and the candy isle nearly swept me off my feet. Everything was arranged by color and these little chocolates were too cute to pass up. I found myself in a frenzy, you know what I mean? When a million ideas zap into your brain, it's like a sugar rush without the sugar.
So grabbing edible grass and other treats I rushed to the basket isle. But then I realized I hate baskets. I kind of always have. They aren't simple enough for me, they seem to detract from their contents. So, I found simple egg shaped bowls and they worked out perfectly! I think these will be our official Easter "baskets" from now on!

Sweetheart Book

Smooshed Paper No More

I store my fancy paper in carry tubes (you can see them in the picture)—but it is becoming increasingly difficult and I certainly cannot afford a flat drawer file (nor do I have the space). So, I've gotten to the point where I am just leaving the paper on the floor. But after stepping on, rolling over with my chair, and moving the paper from place to place I decided "that's enough!" I solved the problem today. Check it out.

No more paper on the floor. No more ribbon on the window sill. Total cost? $12 bucks. This contraption will eventually get painted and hang on the wall, but I gave it legs long enough so it could still stand on the floor if I need it to.

There's an empty lot next to the grocery store that I frequent . . . and it's peppered with plastic bags. Bags that escaped the shopping carts, bags that have been discarded. It makes me sad. Now, we hear on the news that some stores are considering NOT providing plastic bags, charging extra for them, or giving a discount for not using them. And I remembered this colorful alternative: Baggu.

Branches and Butterfly Wedding

As a designer, I enjoy seeing the wedding I designed announcements for—it's nice to see how they tie in to the rest of the decor. So, yesterday I finally did have the opportunity to attend one of those weddings. Here are some detail shots I quickly snapped while trying to look inconspicuous to the "real" photographers.

My hubby and I had family over last night for a small Valentine celebration. Here is a look at some simple ideas for low stress party.

Take a photo of your decorations and use it to design a quick announcement which you can email to family.
As an activity, write a couple of Valentine cards (or letter of appreciation etc.) to friends,family, or someone who has made a positive impact. Purchase a pack of 40 plain cards and envelopes for $5.00 at Michael's. If you want, the photo below shows a very simple way to snaz up a plain card with colored lining and outline. (Works out great for the guys, they don't usually like "girly" stationary.)
While looking at blogs all over the internet, garlands seem to be the "it". So of course I tried one for this party. You can make a garland out of just about anything. The one below is fabric.
Bake and decorate sugar cookies the evening before. If they are kept air tight, they will be nice soft for your party. Yum, yum. Double the recipe and you have an instant party favor to send home with guests.

Flowers! Can't forget the flowers. One $10 bouquet works wonders. Find all your skinny vases and split up your flowers by type. I lined my vases up in a row on the bar . . . pretty, inexpensive, and makes a bigger impact than one bouquet which might not have enough "presence."
. . . plus, you get to enjoy them for another week!
Play games, like this one, called:
It is exacty like the hidden thimble game, only we used a little heart instead. It's a great game for ALL ages. Rules: While everyone closes their eyes and plugs their ears, someone hides the heart—in plain sight. Yes, plain site. They can't move anything to do the hiding.

When the heart is hidden all players begin to search for the heart. If the heart has been hidden correctly, the players won't need to touch or move anything to find the heart. When a player sees it, they quietly sit back down and get to watch the other players with a grin, as they now "know the secret." The last person to see the heart gets to hide it for the next round. (Kids have a great time playing right along with the adults.) Try it, you'll like it.

And lastly, what to do with the fabric from the garland? You probably guessed, make a quilt! Before I began cutting out my flags I made a rough layout of what I wanted the quilt to look like so I knew exactly what shapes to cut:

a functional office! I can't stand it anymore. I've got all my stuff shoved into not-so-functional spaces and it's so cluttered I can't work. Everything is on the floor. So to begin, I would like some wall storage like this Akurum cabinet from Ikea.

Next on the list is a unit to hold all my larger cuts of paper—something like this Alex cabinet from Ikea—only a little more sturdy.

International Blog In

Today is International Blog In day for those of us who want to get the word out about the CPSIA. It is something that has me upset and a lot of people worried.

What is the CPSIA?
In short, after a spate of imported children's products were found to contain lead, the United States Congress quickly drafted and passed the CPSIA, or the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act in August 2008. This law is slated to go into implementation on February 10, 2009.

Among other things, the CPSIA bans lead and phthalates in childrens products (ages 12 and under) mandates third party testing and certification (of EACH product part) and requires that each item be permanently labeled with a date and batch number.

Now, under the very important auspices of child safety, the CPSIA may have grave, unintended consequences.

What's the big deal?
1. It will become unlawful to make or sell anything intended for use by children 12 or under without a program to test goods for lead. Even if no items of their kind have EVER posed a lead risk. Even if the materials were sourced from the most conscientious supplier (one who already tests for lead and phthalates) and even if they're items toddlers will never put in their mouth such as dartboards or bicycle tires.

2. Testing is so costly thousands of small businesses will be forced to close. For example, I use five different materials to make my dolls. Each part will cost around $300 to test. That means one doll will cost me $1,500+ to produce. And when I need to buy more materials, I will have to test again—even if it comes from the exact same roll of fabric I used before. Can you afford a $1,500 doll?

3. The law is so poorly written it doesn't carefully define which items are to be tested. Anything a 12 year old or under might use? So . . . towels, light switches, books, quilts, chairs . . .?
And the disclaimer, "not for children under 12", doesn't hold legal ground.

So what's going to happen February 10th?
Will the shelves in the stores be empty? Will the children's sections be taped off?
I know a lot of handmade items and small shops will quietly disappear. And it will become illegal to custom create anything that a child 12 and under might use.

So we are calling for an amendment to the CPSIA. Please tell everyone about it. Blog about it. Email the information. Get the word out. And send a letter to those who can make a difference, the news, congress etc.

Digging

I'm about to make a guest book to match the wedding announcements I just finished. It's been a couple of years since I bound a book so I went digging through my boxes to remind myself how to get started. Here are a couple of fun examples I found from my bookbinding class.

Made from Japanese paper (found at Kate's Paperie in New York) the journal below is bound using a coptic stitch.

Somehow I messed it up a little and I actually doubled the loops. The correct stitch is the one on the far right. See how the two on the left are a little thicker? Although incorrect, I think I like them better.

Below are some papers I dug out of my stash from Kate's. So pretty. How can I cut them up?

Below was my final project the bookbinding class. Our teacher told us we had to learn a new binding technique on our own and somehow incorporate a box into our project. (She'd taught us how to make simple boxes.)

I made an album using a Japanese Stab stitch. The book comes encased in a green box of my own design. It turned out great for never having made anything like it before.

Pretty Good Start

I'm sitting here, my desk cluttered, my mind just the same . . . trying to pick up where I left off before the holiday vacation and I simply don't want to be back. So, I am putting off doing the paperwork that is a "must" and instead will start off the new year sharing with you a couple little goodies.

PRETTY PIECES
Over the Christmas break we girls (my mother, sisters, and I) went to Sacramento and happened upon an antique shop where we discovered these large beauties.

The colors and style remind me of Marie Antoinette—a movie worth seeing for colors and costumes alone. In person, the lamps are completely striking, breath-taking, and tall, . . . I wished to myself "If only I had a room for these—but they demand presence, something my meager apartment does NOT have." Marked down from $800 each to $300, I thought they were a great deal. Alas, I had to leave them behind.

PRETTY PARTY IDEA
Ikea sells itty-bitty silverware perfect for your kids playhouse—and perfect for an adult "mini" party too. My sister bought a set for my mother and we promptly put on a pretty little party using all the tiny antique dishware she has been collecting over the years.

Among other foods, we served mini: bagels, ciche, tarts, and pigs in a blanket. Each setting had its own creamer full of milk to refresh personal cups when empty. All adults attended. All adults loved it.

PRETTY PLAYFUL
Lastly we threw an un-birthday party for my neice—and I was promptly asked to make a party hat. Panick sat in as I stared at the pile of colored paper thrust in front of me . . . "can I make something creative on the spot?" Scissors flying and tape sticking I began. The result was a purple hat with a wonderful, bouncy explosion from the top. Moral of the story: don't be afraid, let it be handmade!

Branches and Butterflies

Remember the project preview I posted a little while ago? Here is a peek at the announcements I just finished. I had so much fun! The directions I received from the bride were to make a heart out of branches, use the color brown, and she wanted a pocket to hold all the pieces. (Click images to view larger.)

I decided to mimic the shape of the ceremony arch. I also included a few butterflies to foreshadow the planned butterfly release.
The cards are pressed by Tryst Press (they always do a great job)—so gorgeous. I wish you could see them in person. We used ecru Lettra letterpress paper, and the brown pocket is handmade Indian silk paper. The project included a menu, map, place cards, thank you cards, RSVP cards, and matching envelopes as well.

Next up, I'll be handmaking a sign-in book out of the left over paper. So check back later (in a month or so) for more . . .

I enjoy looking at the base of the trees just as much as the ornaments. It's fun to see how people handle that particular part of decorating when there aren't presents to stack around the bottom.
I've been thinking about doing this (see below). I have a line of ornaments that my grandma started giving me when I was little. My mom has continued the tradition. Now I have several that I would like to display, and I think this idea will work!

I would throw a winter berry pie and cobbler party (I love pie and cobbler). If weather permitted, I'd have it outside with relaxed place settings and lanterns.

It would be fun to send the guests home with a turnover in a tidy little package or perhaps a hand-made scarf.

I've just finished a fun logo/business card design. Yellow House specializes in interior design and wedding/event planning—they needed a logo that would "feel" like both. The elements from this design can easily be translated into a website and stationary system etc.

We just purchased our first couch! (Not my first choice, but at a huge discount, I am glad to have it.) And now I am trying to find pillows—a more difficult task than I had originally thought.

I did these announcements a few years ago (Pro-Bono) and thought I'd share. Upon removing the ribbon, the gate folded announcement opens up to show photos of the bride and groom along with wedding details.

I had to make cupcakes for a scout group tonight and had some leftovers to decorate to my heart's content. I used the Cookie Master Plus to squeeze out these little cuties. (I took the easy road and used boxed cake and canned frosting.)
